Spicer Ups School Record in Heptathlon to Defeat D1 Athletes

Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) competed at the SPIRE Institute and won the Division I Challenge heptathlon with a new school record on Saturday.
Spicer broke his old school record of 4,969 points in the heptathlon with his new score of 4,978. He competed against NCAA Division I competitors
Desmond Lindsey of Hampton University,
Carter Sorenson of Notre Dame and
Luke Rarig of Pennsylvania State University as he beat all of them by 218 or more points.
He broke his personal best distance in the shot put of 13.03m to 13.11m as he defeated the rest of the field by over a meter. Spicer also broke his personal best and won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:38.07, topping his previous best of 2:41.92. He had the top vault of 4.00m (just 0.05m away from tying personal best) while also taking second in the high jump with a new personal best jump of 1.90m (breaking the previous mark of 1.84m).
