VanMarter Jumps to Number One Nationally in the Long Jump
BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher College men's track and field team placed third at the Brockport Late Night Invite. The event took place at the Special Events and Recreation Center located on the Campus of the College at Brockport.
Mark VanMarter would put on a show for the Cardinals in the field events of the day, taking the first place finish in the long jump, event jumping an astounding 7.31 meters. This mark breaks VanMarter's standing collegiate record of 7.21 meters and advanced his national standing to number one in the country.
VanMarter also took first place in the triple jump event, launching himself 13.98 meters. The jump demolished VanMarter's previous standing triple jump record of 13.93 meters.
Jonathon Robinson would finish first in the weighted throw event, tossing a 16.13 meter mark, and for the second week in a row, demolished the school's standing record in the event.
