2018 Women's Basketball Tournament Quick Facts

The 2017-2018 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Women's Basketball Playoff field has been set, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The playoffs begin Friday, February 23, with St. John Fisher hosting the two-day tournament.

Before the action begins, here are some quick facts you should know about the conference tournament. (

The Empire 8 will employ a four-team tournament format for the 15
th straight year. Prior to the 2004 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
Six E8 tournaments have played out according to seeding (2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014).
The #1 seed is 14-0 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (10-4), #3 seed (4-10), #4 seed (0-14).
The #4 seed has never advanced to the championship game.
The #3 seed has won the title four times (2008, 2009, 2010, 2015).
The #2 seed has won the title three times (2007, 2011, 2017).
The #1 seed won the title seven times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016).
Fisher is making its 14th tournament appearance (missed 2007) and will serve as the #1 seed for the second time. The Cardinals have advanced to the championship game four times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2015), winning the title in 2006 and 2015. Before the tournament was formed, Fisher won the E8 title in 2003 and were co-champions in 2000.
Stevens has made the E8 tournament each year since joining the conference in in 2007-08. The Ducks have advanced to the title game five times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2016, 2017), hoisting the trophy three times (2009, 2011, 2016).
Sage is in its first year of E8 membership and hasn't played an E8 tournament game yet.
Houghton is making its first E8 tournament apperance.
There have been four overtime games throughout the history of the tournament.
Stevens is 9-7 overall in E8 tournament games including a 3-1 record against Fisher.
Fisher holds a 6-11 tournament record, while Stevens is 9-7 overall in the E8 Tournament.
