Stevens Captures Men's Swimming and Diving Championship

The Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks captured their sixth straight Empire 8 Conference Men's Swimming & Diving title on Saturday. 

The Ducks had race wins in the 200 breast and the 400 free relay and five, top-eight finishes in the 100 free to highlight the final day of the Championship.

Nazareth freshman Seth Farrand was honored as the Empire 8 Male Swimmer of the Meet. On the final day, Farrand narrowly missed the NCAA B-cut qualifying time in the 100 freestyle with a winning time of :45.75. Farrand also competed on Nazareth's school record breaking 400 free relay that swam to second place in 3:07.78. 

Alfred's Christopher Deaver was named the Empire 8 Male Diver of the Meet on Saturday. He will next attend the NCAA Division III Regional Qualifier Meet this coming Friday and Saturday at Ithaca College to earn a spot in the NCAA Division III National Championship in Indianapolis, IN from March 21 through March 24.

Nazareth junior Robert Draper captured the conference title in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a winning time of 16:25.48.  Stevens sophomore Daniel Rosenberger earned second place with a time of 16:33.43. 

Stevens sophomore Tyler Zanki finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:05.31, outtouching Hartiwck's Ryan McLoughlin at the wall (2:07.04). 

Alfred's Andy Edmister had the top performance of the day for the Saxon's with his conference win in the 200-yard Backstroke (1:50.74). Nazareth senior Alex LaPoint finished second in the 1:52.36.
