Following the Empire 8 Women’s Basketball Tournament and the naming of the Most Valuable Player, the entire 2017-18 All-tournament team has been announced.
Stevens – Megan Brown (MVP), Annetta Panayides
St. John Fisher College – Nicole Robinson
Sage – Genevieve Schoff
Houghton – Leslie Moose
Brown was named the tournament MVP as she averaged 24 points and 14 rebounds. She shot 51.5% from the field 93.3% from the free throw line. Brown posted 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting with 10 rebounds in the 52-47 title game victory over top-seeded St. John Fisher College. In the semifinal win over Sage, 64-62, Brown netted a career-high 31 points on 11-of-21 from the floor to go along with a career-best 18 rebounds. Brown also recorded the game-winning assist with 18 seconds remaining to give the Ducks the two-point advantage.
Panayides, a freshman, came off the bench for the Ducks and posted a solid performance through the tournament shooting 62.5 percent on 5-of-8 from the field. She had five points in the semifinal against Sage, including a free throw with three seconds remaining to give Stevens the 64-62 victory. In the Championship game, Panayides finished with six points and six rebounds.
Robinson averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks over the two tournament games. She shot 36.7 percent on 11-of-30 from the floor. Robinson finished with 15 points and eight rebounds against Houghton and scored a team-high 13 points with seven rebounds against Stevens.
Schoff scored 11 of her team-high 20 points in the first half, which marked her 19
th game of the season in double-digits. She also had 14 rebounds, one less than her season high, and four blocked shots.
Moose collected her third double-double of the season on 12 points and 11 rebounds and the Highlanders made their first ever E8 Tournament appearance.
