Spencer Cook Named First-Team Academic All-District

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 26, 2018) – Sophomore Spencer Cook of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team was named a member of the First-Team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team this week. He is just the third Duck in program history to earn the award.
 
Cook joins Evan Klimchak last year and Scott Sexton in 1996 as the only CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees in the 102-year history of the program
 
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
 
Cook and all other first-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in March.
 
The sophomore business & technology major sports a 3.87 GPA and led the Ducks with 422 points this season. At 17.6 points per game, he was the only Stevens player to average double digits per game. He also cracked the 100-rebound barrier this year with 104. He handed out 46 assists, had 21 steals and two blocks while shooting .488 from the floor, including 57 threes.
 
He was the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year as a freshman last season.
 
Cook represented District II, which includes Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
