Fisher Sets Three School Records at RIT Invite
ROCHESTER, N.Y. –The St. John Fisher College men's track and field team finished in fourth place, racking up 75 total points at the RIT Invite. The Invite took place at the Gene Polisseni Center located on the Campus of Rochester Institute of Technology.
Senior Peter Girardi highlighted the day for the Cardinals taking the top spot in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:56.22, breaking the previous college record. This 800 flat time converts to a banked track time of 1:54.9, which ranks him 17th in the nation. Girardi now holds national position in four separate events.
Mac Milligan finished third in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:00.01.
James Felice took the number two finish in the one mile run, finishing the race in 4:22.46. As for the 3,000-meter race, Nicholas Schug took the fourth spot, clocking in at 9:30.13.
Silas Wade highlighted the sprints with the 12th place finish in the200-meter dash, and earning a 24.29 time stamp.
It was a competition between teammates during the field events for the Cardinals. During the men's weighted throw competition Jonathon Robinson broke Ross Mathewson's standing school record, only for Mathewson to break the record once again, throwing a 15.51 meter mark. It didn't end there as Robinson stepped up and tossed a monstrous 15.76 meter mark, taking down Mathewson's record he just set. After all that, Robinson and Mathewson placed second and third overall in the competition. Ryan Desautels and Chase Corcoran also placed eighth and 13th in the competition respectively.
Robinson and Mathewson also placed third and fourth place in the shot put event, tossing 13.73 and 13.30 meter marks. Leyton Miner also took seventh place tossing a 13.06 meter placement.
Mark VanMarter improved his national position in the triple jump event with a mark of 14.23, and also broke his own standing college record.
