The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has announced that 10 student-athletes in five different sports have been recognized for outstanding play during the week of March 5-11, 2018.... 

Baseball Player – SUNY Canton
Wilson Matos, Senior – Anasco, Puerto Rico/Los Fundasores de Anasco
 
Wilson Matos had a monster week going 7-for-10 from the plate with a pair of triples, three stolen bases and 6 RBI in two games last week for the Roos. He went 3-for-5 in the first game v. Southern Virgnia with a triple an RBI and went 2-for-2 in stolen bases. He followed that up with a 4-for-5 performance with a triple and drove in five runs while scoring one in Saturday's contest v. the Knights.
 
Baseball Pitcher– Stevens
Quinn DiPasquale, Senior – Chelmsford, MA/Bishop Guertin
 
Quinn DiPasquale pitched no-hit baseball into the sixth inning and finished with a career-high 13 strikeouts as Stevens topped Middlebury College, 8-4. The senior pitcher allowed just an unearned run on one hit, while walking just one through seven innings pitched.  He faced 27 batters holding the opponent to a .042 batting average.
 
Softball Player– Sage
Alexa Silk, Senior – Freehold, NY/Greenville
 
Alexa Silk led the Gator offense on its spring training trip. Over eight games, Silk batted .567 (17-for-30) with three triples and nine RBI. She scored eight runs, stole eight bases on nine attempts and only struck out once at the plate. Silk recorded a hit in each game, including a 3-for-4 performance against Chatham and a 4-for-5 showing against Randolph College.
 
Softball Pitcher– Nazareth
Gabriella Corasaniti, Freshman – North Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse
 
Gabriella Corasaniti made her collegiate debut in the circle and earned her first career victory as she allowed one earned run, while striking out four batters over seven innings pitched.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Player – Houghton
Nathan Anderson, Freshman, Attack – Rochester, NY/Home Schooled
 
Houghton freshman Nathan Anderson posted a team-high 12 points on seven goals and five assists in two games to open the season last week. He netted three goals and added three assists against Wells on Thursday. He came back with four goals and two assists against SUNY Canton on Saturday.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie – Hartwick
C.J. Alesandrini, Sophomore – Schenectady, NY
 
C.J. Alesandrini stopped nine shots while allowing only three goals in 60 minutes on Saturday in a 5-3 victory at Farmingdale State. He would stop two shots in each of the first three quarters and another three in the final 15 minutes in the Hawks' win for a .750 save percentage.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Player – St. John Fisher
Kelsie Schindler, Senior, Attack – Pittsford, NY/Pittsford
 
Kelsie Schindler and the #16 ranked St. John Fisher College women’s lacrosse team finished the week 1-1 as the team traveled down to Colorado Springs, Colorado for two non-conference matchups. On Monday, the Cardinals defeated the hosts #20 ranked Colorado College 17-9. Fisher’s next game was on Wednesday, when the Cardinals fell to Montclair by a score of 11-12. Schindler started off her spring break trip with an incredible effort versus #20 Colorado College. The senior totaled six points after scoring a hat-trick and adding three assists in the game. She also added four shots with all of those hitting the cage. On Wednesday versus Montclair, the Pittsford, NY native continued her scoring touch, notching two more goals and another assists in the back and forth loss. Schindler also added a total of four shots and again all four were shots on goal. Both games were the first two of the 2018 season for the Cardinals.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie – Nazareth
Brianna Rizzari, Junior – Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia
 
Brianna Rizzari had back-to-back games of setting career-highs in saves to help Nazareth to a 1-1 week. She had 17 saves in a 10-6 win over U of R on Wednesday. She followed that up with a new career-high 18 saves against No. 13 William Smith on Saturday, an 11-3 loss.
 
Men’s Tennis Player – No Nominations
 
 
Men’s Volleyball Player – Stevens
David Lehman, Sophomore, OPP – Oakland, CA/Bentley
 
David Lehman posted a career-high 25 kills on 32 attacks with just one error as No. 2 Stevens topped No. 15 Elmira in four sets. The resulting .750 attack percentage is tops in the country this season for a player with a minimum of 20 attempts in a match. For the week, the sophomore opposite totaled 28 kills on 38 attacks with two errors (0.684 hit percentage) with eight blocks and five kills. The Ducks swept Bard College to open the conference weekend.
 
Men’s Volleyball Rookie – Stevens
Ryan Byrne, Freshman, OH – Mastic, NY/Eastport-South Manor
 
Ryan Byrne totaled 12 kills on 24 attacks with just two errors (0.417 attack percentage) as the second-ranked Ducks swept Bard and topped No. 15 Elmira in four sets during the conference weekend. The freshman outside hitter also added two aces, one block and eight digs.
