Peebles, Brown, Schoff and Coleman Earn D3hoops.com All-East Region Honors

Three Empire 8 women's basketball players were honored by D3hoops.com as All-East Region performers. Nazareth College Samantha Peebles and Stevens Institute of Technology Megan Brown highlighted the honorees with a place on the first team, while Sage senior Genevieve Schoff was selected to the third team.
Sage head coach Allison Coleman was named the East Coach of the Year.
Peebles, the 2018 Empire 8 Co-Player of the Year, was second in the conference in scoring at 17.4 points per game. Outside of conference play, Peebles led Nazareth at 18.2 points per game, four points more than in her junior season when she was a second team all-conference selection. The Syracuse, NY native scored 138 of her 455 points in 2017-18 from the free throw line, something she did regularly throughout her career. The 138 free throws made ranked fourth nationally and is fourth on the single season list at Nazareth. For her career, Peebles drained 301 free throws at 79.4 percent..
Over her four-year tenure on Castle Point, Brown concluded her career a pair of Empire 8 Championships and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Brown totaled 1,110 points and 922 rebounds and finished her collegiate career with the eighth-highest career point total and the third-best rebounding total in program history. The forward was the 2018 Empire 8 Co-Player of the Year, the conference's first-ever Defensive Player of the Year as a junior, and was named the Empire 8 Tournament's Most Valuable Player in consecutive seasons.
Schoff, who set an Empire 8 single-game record with 18 made free throws, was Sage's second leading scorer this season. Over the course of her career, Schoff recorded 33 career double-doubles after closing her career with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the Empire 8 semifinals against eventual champion, Stevens. Schoff wraps her amazing career as a four-year starter and all-star having just earned Empire 8 First Team honors. Schoff is Sage's No. 2 all-time player in points (1,394), rebounds (871), blocks (128) and game played (106). Schoff finishes with a 13.2 ppg average on her career which is No. 4 all-time. Schoff is also the all-time free throw leader at Sage having made 405 of 544 attempts for a .744 free throw percentage which is sixth best as well.
Coleman, who just wrapped her fourth season at Sage led the Gators to a second place showing in the Empire 8 conference regular-season and the team's first appearance in the women's basketball tournament as a new member to the league in 2017-2018. The Gators went 18-8 overall with a 12-4 mark in Empire 8 play. The 18 wins this season is tied for the third most in school history with the 2014-2015 team, which also went 18-8 under the guidance of Coleman in her first season at Sage. The Sage women's basketball coaching staff was also honored as the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Coaching Staff of the Year by the Empire 8.
Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region teams are eligible for All-American selection. The D3hoops.com women's basketball All-Americans will be announced in the week following following the Division III semifinals. This is the 17th year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 21st annual All-Ameircan selections. The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
