Birmingham, AL – For the third consecutive week, Nazareth junior Alycia Eaton broke her own school record in the triple jump, vaulting 11.89 meters (39 feet, ¼ inch) Saturday to earn third place at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships, held at Birmingham Crossplex. Eaton earns All-American honors and picked up six points for Nazareth with her efforts.

The Remsen, NY native saved her best for last, hitting the jump of 11.89 meters (39 feet, ¼ inch) on her final attempt to vault her from the sixth place position, to third place – that jump was nearly a foot better than her previous school record.

The junior had been building up to that moment, having exceeded her previous school record 11.66 meters (38 feet, 3 1/4 inch) on her first (11.77 meters) and fifth attempts (11.82 meters).

Eaton is the first female All-American in indoor since Taylor Pierson placed fifth in the long jump in 2014. 16945

The journey to the third place finish saw Eaton progressing with school record jumps in each of the past three weeks.  She hit 11.39 meters (37 feet, 4 ½ inches) at Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 24th and followed up that performance last week with a jump 11.66 meters (38 feet, 3 1/4 inch) at All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships.

"Alycia has had an unbelievable last two weeks, culminating in the third place finish today on the biggest stage," said head track and field coach James Goss. "She went into the competition really relaxed and put together her best series of jumps all year.  On her last jump she went from sixth place all the way to third place. I couldn't be more excited for her."
