INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Junior diver
Christopher Deaver (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) finished the first day of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III National Championships on the 3-meter board on Wednesday afternoon.
Deaver competed in the preliminary round of the 3-meter board in the afternoon and finished with a score of 375.65.
"Chris [Deaver] fought hard through his 11 dives today," Head Coach
Brian Striker said. "He was a little off to start the meet and found himself in a position that is hard to recover from, especially when you are competing with the best in the country. Sometimes, for any athlete at any event at this level, the first attempt doesn't go as planned. I am proud that he fought through the entire list. We learned a bit today and will make adjustments tomorrow in practice. He certainly can compete with these guys, and I am looking forward to watching him represent the Saxons on Friday!"
Deaver finished the 3-meter board in 24
th place. His personal best score on the tall board is 494.75 in 11 dives. He will compete on the 1-meter board on Friday where his personal best is a school record, 500.30 points that he set at the Empire 8 Championships at the Webster Schroeder High School pool earlier this year in February.
