Get to Know: Melissa Kuberka

Melissa Kuberka is the women’s basketball coach at St. John Fisher College.
Where did you attend college? What was your major? I attended to SUNY Geneseo and I majored in Biology with minors in psychology and environmental studies.
Where you a student-athlete? I played basketball
What made you chose to attend Geneseo? I chose Geneseo because of the opportunity to play basketball for a great coach and the rigorous academics.
How long have you been working at St. John Fisher? 6 months
What interested you and brought you to St. John Fisher? I was most interested in the legacy and the reputation of the basketball program and the athletic program in general. It is a school that I would have wanted to attend as an undergrad which makes it a place I want to work now.
What is the best thing about the Campus? The people but also the facilities.
When you hear “St. John Fisher” what is the first word that comes to mind? Family
Who has been the most influential person during your career? Why? My college coach, Scott Hemer. He never sugar-coated things in terms of what playing for him would be like. Nothing was a guarantee, it was earned and it set the standard as a player and now as a coach.
