PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Less than 24 hours after pitching a no-hitter, senior pitcher Lindsey Thayer threw a perfect game as the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team split with Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday at the Softball Complex.  With the win, Fisher, which is ranked 11th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, moved to 15-7.  The Tigers, who had not played since March 14, are now 3-9 on the season.

FISHER 1, RIT 0

Thayer moved to 10-3 on the year with the win after coming away with 15 strikeouts overall.  The Winthrop native has not allowed a hit in her last 18.2 innings of work and lowered her earned run average to 1.59.

The Cardinals' lone run came in the bottom of the second inning as Ashley Prince led off with a single to left and moved into scoring position when Mary Claire Grosvenor bunted her over.  With two outs, Emma Savas drove in a run with a single to left to give the home team the only run it would need.

RIT 4, FISHER 2

The Cardinals struck first in the second inning with one run on one hit and a pair of Tigers' errors.  Sammie Torlish reached on a one out misplay by RIT and eventually came around to score when Sam Schermerhorn singled to left to make it 1-0 in the Cardinals' favor.

The lead would be short-lived, however, as RIT boomed a three-run home run as part of a four-run fourth inning to open up a three-run lead.

Fisher brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the sixth after Savas walked and Marissa Kirker drove her in with a double to right, but the Tigers wiggled in and out of trouble to head to the seventh with a 4-2 advantage.

In the seventh, Fisher once again had the tying run at the plate, but came up short after the Tigers nailed a runner at home to preserve the 4-2 win.

Fisher had five hits in the loss led by Emily Trotman and Kirker who had two apiece.

Trotman started in the circle and was saddled with the loss to move to 1-2 on the season.  The freshman went 3.2 innings and yielded four runs (three earned) on six hits.  She had three strikeouts.  Monica Moses threw 3.1 innings in relief and surrendered one hit overall.
