No. 3 Stevens to host NCAA opening round in Canavan Arena

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 16, 2018) – One day after claiming the program's second United Volleyball Conference Championship, the third-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology Men's Volleyball team was named one of four site hosts for the first two rounds of the 2018 NCAA Tournament, it was announced Monday. Stevens received the second seed in the tournament and received a bye into the national quarterfinals. The Ducks won the 2015 national championship at Canavan Arena.
Stevens will serve as a site host alongside No. 1 Springfield College, No. 2 Carthage College and No. 7 Vassar College in hosting matches on Friday, April 20 ad Saturday, April 21. Carthage will also host the semifinals and final in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Joining Stevens in the Hoboken regional are Elms College and Stevenson University. The Ducks will take on the winner of Friday's match between the Blazers and the Mustangs in Canavan Arena Saturday evening. Both matches will begin at 6 p.m.
Elms finished the season at 20-6 and won the New England Collegiate Conference's automatic bid for the first time since 2012. The Blazers have won seven consecutive matches. Stevens bested Elms in three sets on January 26 and have won each of the two all-time meetings between the programs.
Stevenson finished the season 21-8 and brings a nine-match winning streak to Hoboken. The Mustangs went a perfect 12-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference and topped Arcadia University in straight sets to claim the MAC's inaugural men's volleyball crown. Friday's match marks the first-ever meeting between Elms and Stevenson.
