The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has announced that 13 student-athletes in seven different sports have been recognized for outstanding play during the week of April 16-22, 2018.... 

Baseball Player – St. John Fisher
Scott Eisenmenger, Senior – Hilton, NY/Hilton
 
Senior Scott Eisenmenger played a big role in helping the St. John Fisher College baseball team go 5-0 last week including four wins in conference play. In five starts, Eisenmenger went 10-for-20 with three doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI and eight runs scored. The Hilton native slugged 1.100 and had a .600 on-base percentage. Eisenmenger started the week with a 2-for-3 performance against Canton as the senior had a double and a home run to go along with a game-high four RBI. He followed that up with a hit against RIT before adding seven hits in a three-game sweep of Utica College over the weekend. In that series, Eisenmenger had two home runs, two doubles and nine RBI.
 
Baseball Pitcher– Ithaca
Jake Binder, Junior – Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt
 
Junior Jake Binder extended his scoreless innings pitched streak to 19 straight on Saturday with seven shutout innings in an 18-0 win at Canton. Binder scattered three hits and struck out seven batters en route to a combined shutout, which is the second consecutive shutout that Binder has pitched in.
 
Softball Player– Alfred
Haley Powers, Senior, 3B – Newark, DE/St. Georges Tech
 
Haley Powers was 12-for-19 (.632) at the dish over six games and added three doubles, a triple and one home runs, eight RBI and eight runs scored. The Newark, DE native slugged 1.053 on the week and owned a .667 on-base percentage. She notched a season-high four hits against Sage on Friday evening. She was responsible for five of the six runs scored in the doubleheader against Utica, batting in two during the first game and following that performance with a two-run homer and another run scored in the second game.
 
Softball Pitcher– St. John Fisher
Lindsey Thayer, Senior – Winthrop, NY/St. Lawrence
 
Lindsey Thayer continued her dominance inside the circle as the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team solidified its spot atop the Empire 8 standings with four wins in conference play last week. Thayer, who was coming off a week in which she threw a no-hitter and a perfect game, didn't miss a beat as the senior went 3-0 in sweeps of Stevens and Elmira. The Winthrop native pitched 24.0 innings and allowed just 13 combined hits in that stretch to go along with 35 strikeouts. She picked up three more complete games, and as of today, has not allowed a run, earned or otherwise, in her last 47.1 innings of work.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Player – St. John Fisher
Andrew Rosso, Senior, Attack – Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa
 
Andrew Rosso and the St. John Fisher College men’s lacrosse team finished up last week 2-0, with two Empire 8 Conference victories over Nazareth and Houghton. The Kirkville, N.Y. native became the seventh student-athlete in the men’s lacrosse program’s history to reach the 100 career goal mark, as the senior tallied four goals and two assist in the 11-8 win over Nazareth. Rosso continued his scoring on the team’s Senior Day, when the attackman scored twice and added five assists in the 23-9 Fisher victory on Saturday versus Houghton. He now leads the team with 38 goals, 21 assists, and 55 points.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie – Hartwick
C.J. Alesandrini, Sophomore – Schenectady, NY/Colonie
 
C.J. Alesandrini made 10 saves in 83 minutes in a pair of wins for the Hawks. He stopped six surrendering three goals in a 19-3 victory over Utica on Wednesday. He then made four saves in the first half in a 14-1 win against Elmira on Saturday. He finished the week with a goals against average of 2.17 and a save percentage of .769.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Player – Sage
Torri Sperl, Senior, Attack – Saugerties, NY/Saugerties
 
Torri Sperl led Sage to a 3-0 week, with her 20 points on 16 goals with four assists. Added 2 game-winning goals with 10 GB and 12 draws. The Gators’ top scorer this season, now has 46 points on 37 goals with nine assists. She capped the Gators’ 3-0 week with her impressive numbers that include 20 points on 16 goals and four assists with 12 draw controls and 10 ground ball pickups. Sperl is third in career points as Sage with 86 points, while standing third in goals with 75 and sixth with her 11 assists.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie – St. John Fisher
Morgan Hayes, Sophomore – Syracuse, NY/Westhill
 
Morgan Hayes and the No. 24 St. John Fisher women’s lacrosse team finished up the past week 3-0, including a non-conference victory over No. 15 SUNY Geneseo. The sophomore goalkeeper, finished the week with all three victories improving her record on the season to 7-0. Hayes finished with two saves in the 18-3 win over Fredonia on Friday. The Syracuse, N.Y. native then followed up with a three save performance in a battle of two top 25 teams, as Cardinals defeated Geneseo 10-4. To finish out the week, Hayes made one save in the 18-3 Fisher win in conference action over Houghton.
 
 
Men’s Tennis Player – Houghton
Louis-Guillaume Garcia, Freshman – Castelldefels, Spain
 
Louis-Guillaume Garcia went 6-0 on the week with three wins at No. 1 singles and three wins at 2nd doubles. He started the week against St. John Fisher on Wednesday with an 8-5 win in doubles and a 7-5, 6-1 in singles play. On Friday he won 8-5 in doubles and 6-4, 6-3 in singles against Hartwick before shutting out Utica on Saturday with an 8-0 doubles in and 6-0, 6-0 singles victory.
 
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete – Sage
Sagan Leggett, Junior – Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane
 
Sagan Leggett broke the school record in the 3,000 meter run as she posted a time of 11:47.22 at the Vassar Invite.  The bested the previous record by ten seconds that was set in 2013 (11:57).
 
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Stevens
Katie Weeks, Junior – Toms River, NJ/Msgr Donovan
 
Katie Weeks won all four throwing events and set a new school-record in the shot put. Katie Weeks was first in the discus at 43.04 meters, first in the javelin at 36.04 meters, 1st in the hammer in new PR mark of 44.85 meters and first in the shot put in a new school-record of 13.94 meters, which is currently ranked No. 5 in DIII.
 
Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete – St. John Fisher
Peter Girardi, Senior – Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse
 
Peter Girardi competed at the Cortland Classic on April 21 and continued his success with two first place finishes. The Cicero native took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.59 seconds, marking him first overall in all of Division III. Girardi would also take the top finish in the 200-meter dash after he clocked in at 22.04 seconds.
 
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Stevens
Tanner Lyons, Senior – Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge
 
Tanner Lyons earned top marks at the Vassar Invite in the javelin throw at 55.81 meters. He led a trio of Ducks who swept the event and defeated the runner-up by 5.41 meters.
