Ricci, Bednarski Net 100 Goals; Cunningham Wins 200; Stevens Clinches No. 1 Seed

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 25, 2018) – Senior Julianna Ricci and sophomore Kyra Bednarski both netted the 100th goal of their careers, and head coach Celine Cunningham earned the 200th win of her career at Castle Point as the No. 24 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team dominated The Sage Colleges 22-2 on Wednesday to win the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship.
 
The win snapped the Gators' three-game win streak and give Stevens the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Empire 8 Tournament. At 12-4, the Ducks delivered the 200th career win for Head coach Celine Cunningham, who is in her 16th season with the Ducks.
 
The Ducks are a perfect 7-0 on the year in league play and will host the Empire 8 semifinals on May 5 and the Empire 8 Championship Game on May 6. Times will be announced shortly.
 
Stevens led 15-1 at the half and saw eight points from senior attacker Cami Santor, as she poured in six goals with two assists and now has an even 27 goals with 27 assists for 54 points this year. Bednarski also added eight points on three goals with five assists. She now has a team-best 83 points on 48 goals with 35 assists. Ricci finished with three goals and three assists, elevating her season numbers to 36 goals with 11 assists and 47 points.
 
Hannah Condren added five goals as well for the Ducks, while sophomore Brianne Salera added four goals off the bench.
 
Sage's senior attacker Torri Sperl picked up both goals for the Gators, while seniors Ellen Abbott and Stephanie Nunez added one assist for Sage.
 
Stevens' senior goalie Stephanie Schnelzer picked up the win to move to 12-3 in goal after playing 30 minutes with one save and one goal allowed. She shared time with rookie Olivia Demetres, who had two saves with one goal allowed.
 
Stevens has now won its last four Empire 8 games by an aggregate score of 82-9.

"Jules and Kyra are so humble and unselfish that it is fitting that they share this milestone day," said head coach Celine Cunningham. "Kyra is defiantly putting up goals, but she is such a balanced player with a good amount of goals and assist. Jules is totally locked in and focused - she really is making the most of her senior season."

"Clinching host field is huge for us," continued Cunningham. "That was a goal in the beginning of the season, and I'm so happy we will get to compete in the tournament in front of our home crowd."
