2018 Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quick Facts

The 2018 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Men's Lacrosse Tournament will feature four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship. The playoffs begin Wednesday, May 2 with two semifinal matches and the Championship will take place on Saturday, May 5 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.

The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 15th straight year. Prior to the 2004 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
 
Two of the four teams that qualified for the 2017 E8 Tournament return again this season. 
 
The tournament has played out according to seeding three times - in 2012, 2014 and 2015..
 
The #1 seed is 11-3 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (9-5), #3 seed (5-9), #4 seed (3-11).
 
The #1 seed has won the conference championship seven times (2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016).

The #2 seed has won the title four times (2004, 2006, 2007, 2010)
 
The #3 seed won the title for the first time in 2017.

The #4 seed has won the title twice (2005 and 2009).
 
2018 marks the third time Stevens will serve as the number one seed - was previously No. 1 in 2012 and 2017. 

Stevens has qualified for the tournament ten times since joining the E8 in 2007-08 (the Ducks missed the 2010 tournament).

Stevens has advanced to the title game three times (2012, 2016, 2017) and won the championship in 2012.

Stevens is 4-8 in E8 post season play.

This will be the second time Fisher Ithaca is the No. 2 seed.
 
Fisher is 2-8 in E8 tournament games and have never won a conference title.

Alfred is making its first apperance in the E8 Tournament.

Hartwick is making its fourth apperance in the E8 Tournament and second straight. 

The Hawks are 1-3 in the tournament and advanced to the title game once (2005).
