Fisher Men's Outdoor Track and Field Gather Program-Best No.5 Ranking in Latest Poll

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's outdoor track and field team soared five spots from a number ten ranking to a program-best fifth spot national standing. Fisher recently competed in the 91st Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, one of the most prestigious competitions in the country. The Cardinals accumulated 89.09 total points in this week's poll, about 25 points below Augustana University.

Senior Peter Girardi finds himself nationally ranked in three separate events, including the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles event with a time of 50.88 seconds.

The Cicero native currently sits at third overall in the 400-meter dash with a time stamp of 47.35 seconds, while also ranked seventh nationally in the 110-meter hurdles with a best time of 14.34.

Fellow Cicero native Eddie Mahana is also nationally ranked in two events. The sophomore holds the 21st spot in the 400-meter hurdles, as he was clocked at 53.76 seconds. He was also clocked at 14.86 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, which puts him at 33rd in the nation.

VanMarter highlights the rankings for the Cardinals in field events, as the senior claimed the top spot in the long jump event with a best leap of 7.64 meters. The Liverpool native also finds himself tied for 20th nationally in the triple jump with a 14.35 meter jump.

The Cardinals also saw freshman Kyle Rollins clear 2.12 meters (6' 11.5") in the high jump event at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational and move into fifth overall in the country.

The men's and women's track and field teams will no longer take part in the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday as the meet was cancelled due to the potential wintery conditions forecasted for the weekend.

Both teams are scheduled to compete again on Saturday, April 14th at the University of Rochester.
