2018 Men's Tennis Tournament Quick Facts
The 2018 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Men's Tennis Tournament is set to take place this weekend at Houghton College, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship. The playoffs begin Friday, May 4 with two semifinal matches and the Championship will take place on Saturday, May 5.

Championship Format: Dual match is played until decision. Three doubles matches are followed by six singles matches, starting by position order.

The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 11th straight year. Prior to the 2008 tournament, the E8 champion was based on an eight-team format.
Stevens has qualified for the tournament every year since joining the conference in 2007-08.
It will be the eighth straight year Stevens has served at the No. 1 seed.
2018 marks the second straight year Houghton has qualified for the E8 tournament since joining the conference in 2012-13.
St. John Fisher is making its seventh straight tournament appearance.
It is the fifth straight year St. John Fisher will be No. 3 seed.
The tournament has played out according to seeding seven times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017).
The #1 seed is 10-0 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (9-1), #3 seed (1-9), #4 seed (0-10).
The #1 seed has won the conference championship nine times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017).
The #2 seed has won the title once (2010).
The #3 and #4 has never won the conference title.
Stevens has played in the championship game every year since 2008 and it has always been against former E8 member, Ithaca College. So 2018 will feature a new final match-up.
