2018 Softball Tournament Quick Facts
The 2018 Empire 8 Softball Tournament is ready to get underway this weekend, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the E8's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
The playoffs begin on Friday, May 4 as second-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology plays third-seeded Utica College at 1pm, followed by top-seeded St. John Fisher College verse fourth-seeded Alfred University at 3:30pm.
The tournament will continue with three games Saturday, and the Championship on Sunday. All games will be played on the campus of St. John Fisher College.

Tournament Quick Facts
The Empire 8 Athletic Conference will employ a four team double-elimination tournament format for the 17th straight year (2002-2018).
St. John Fisher will host the tournament and serve as the No. 1 seed for the first time.
Fisher has appeared in every tournament except one; 2014.
Fisher has won the Championship five times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2017).
Fisher's record in the E8 tournament is 36-25 with a 12-5 mark against other teams in the 2018 tournament (2-0 v Stevens; 4-2 v Utica; 6-3 v Alfred Ithaca).
Stevens is making its sixth appearance in the tournament since joining the E8 conference in 2007-08.
The Ducks won their first E8 tournament game last year and are 1-10 in the E8 postseason.
Utica and Alfred both return to the tournament after missing out on the 2017 tournament.
Utica is making its sixth postseason appearance, while the Alfred is making its 11th.
Utica is 6-10 in the E8 tournament and has finished as the runner-up twice (2006 and 2013).
Alfred is 12-17 all time in the tournament including an 8-8 mark against other teams in the tournament.
