Baseball Player – Ithaca
Sam Little, Junior – Fayetteville, NY/CBA
Junior Sam Little helped the Bombers win the Empire 8 Championship over the weekend to earn the Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. Little who hit .550 in four tournament games, was named the Most Valuable Player. He went 11-for-20 with five RBI, two home runs and six runs scored.
Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete – St. John Fisher
James Felice, Senior – Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy
Senior James Felice clocked a 1:55.99 in the 800-meter dash at the SUNY Geneseo Beautiful Valley Open, good for first in the event and set a brand new school record.
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Utica
Keanu Heedram, Junior – Rochester, NY/Rush Henrietta
Keanu Heedram had a huge day in the circle as he broke the school-record and placed first in both the shot put and the discus at the SUNY Geneseo Beautiful Valley Open. He broke his own school-record and moved into 15
th on the national outdoor qualifying list with a toss of 16.06 meters in the shot put. He also broke his own school-record and moved into 28
th on the national outdoor qualifying list with a discus throw of 48.41 meters. The next day he completed at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet and placed eighth in the discus with a distance of 47.86 meters.
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete – St. John Fisher
Tayler Dence, Sophomore – Hannibal, NY/Hannibal
Sophomore Tayler Dence grabbed first place in the 400-meter hurdles at the Beautiful Valley Open meet hosted by SUNY Geneseo on May 10. She set a new school record in the event after she crossed the finish line at 1:02.56. The Hannibal native is now 21st overall in the nation and three tenths of a second from qualifying for the national meet.
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Alfred
Brynn Hyde, Senior – Homer, NY/Homer
Brynn Hyde stood out at the SUNY Geneseo Beautiful Valley Open with a new Alfred University school record in the hammer throw. She hit a mark of 43.64m, topping the previous record of 43.33 meters set in 2010.
