Fisher Places 18th at NCAAs After Final Round 311

The St. John Fisher College men's golf team wrapped up its 2018 season with an 18th place finish at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship on Friday at Grandover Resort after finishing the four-round tournament with a combined team score of 1215 (294-307-303-311).  Fisher, which played the par-72 East Course, was 23-over on Friday to close out the week at +63 overall.

Methodist University won the team title at +7 while Washington & Lee finished second at 18-over.  Texas-Tyler was third at +19 while Concordia-Texas (+21) and Guilford College (+22) rounded out the top five.

Andrew Fedele capped off his championship with a +3, 75 after the junior shot even par on the front nine including a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole.  Fedele, who shot +15 (72, 79, 77, 75) over four rounds, finished tied for 62nd place. 

Christopher Thompson was +16 for the championship after wrapping up play on Friday with a +7, 79.  Thompson, who posted a pair of birdies overall and shot one-under on the front, recorded scores of 73, 76, 76 and 79 to tie for 65th position on the leaderboard.

Christopher Fritch tied for 75th place after carding a final round +6 (78).  Fritch, who began his round on the 10th hole, fired seven straight pars before a bogey on 17 put him one over at the turn.  The junior closed out the championship at +20 with scores of 79, 78, 73 and 78.

Colin McGaugh was also seven-over on Friday and concluded his day with five straight pars for a final round 79.  McGaugh, who tied for 85th place overall at +25, carded scores of 72, 79, 83, 79.

Nicholas Calabrese rounded out the scoring for Fisher with a final round 81 to sit in a tie for 79th place overall.  Calabrese pared 11 holes on Friday and ended the week at +21 with marks of 77, 74, 77 and 81.

As a team, Fisher led the field with two eagles and came up with 31 birdies overall.  The Cardinals ranked third among all teams with 227 pars and played well overall on par fives to finish at two-over for the tournament.
