NORMAN, Okla. – Following an 18th place finish at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship last week, the St. John Fisher College men's golf team had two players honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America and Srixon/Cleveland Golf for their performances during the 2017-18 season.

Sophomore Colin McGaugh, who was one of 100 players to be named a Division III Ping All-Region honoree by the GCAA, played in 10 tournaments overall this season and led the Cardinals with an average score of 77.  McGaugh posted one win overall during his sophomore campaign and completed three rounds at par.

The Hamilton native recorded four top-10 finishes overall and won the McDaniel Spring Invite after shooting a 36-hole total of 150 (+6).  McGaugh began the season with a second place finish at the St. John Fisher Invitational and followed up that performance with a third place finish at the Empire 8 Fall Championship.  He would go on to earn a seventh place showing in the Empire 8 Spring Championship and was named First-Team All-Conference after the Cardinals secured their eighth consecutive Empire 8 Crown.

McGaugh tied for 85th at the NCAA Championship last week after a 72-hole total of +25 (72, 79, 83, 79).

Nicholas Calabrese, who became just the fourth Scholar All-American in program history and 18th All-American selection overall, was honored by Srixon/Cleveland Golf as one of 37 Scholar All-Americans across Division III.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Calabrese competed in nine tournaments overall and posted an average score of 78.29 over 21 rounds.  He posted four top-10 finishes during the season with his best outing coming in the Empire 8 Championship after taking the top overall spot with a 36-hole mark of +13.

A First-Team All-Conference recipient in 2018, Calabrese, who was the only player to shoot under par during the Empire 8 Fall Championship, also tied for ninth place at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic in September with at eight-over-par.

Calabrese tied for 79th place at the national championship after the Newtown, Square, Pa. native pared 11 holes during the final round and ended the week at +21 with marks of 77, 74, 77 and 81.

Men's golf closed out another successful season in 2018 as the Cardinals won their 15th Empire 8 title overall.  Fisher, which was one of just 18 teams to make the cut at the NCAA Championship, led the field with two eagles and came up with 31 birdies overall.  The Cardinals, who landed four players on the Empire 8's All-Conference list, ranked third among all teams with 227 pars and played well overall on par fives to finish at two-over for the tournament.
