Burrell Named First-Team Academic All-District

HOBOKEN, N.J. (May 18, 2018) –
Thomas Burrell of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball was named First-Team 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced.
The 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.
Thomas Burrell, a senior on the national runner-up men's volleyball team, will graduate next week with a 3.66 GPA in computer engineering. He is a two-time All-American, including earning a spot on the First-Team this season while the Ducks finished No. 2 in the nation.
He recorded 201 kills on 324 attacks with just 37 errors (0.506) and topped the nation in hitting percentage and blocks per set for most of the regular season. Burrell has collected 132 blocks on the year and will finish sixth in program history in that column. The senior also collected 20 aces, seven assists and 32 digs among his season totals.

Stevens is located in District 2 and competes with institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
