Porrett's per-game average not only paced Division III in 2017-18 but the junior from Dumont, New Jersey, finished first in the nation across all three divisions in assists per game, topping the University of Oklahoma's Trae Young (8.7) by a fraction of a point. The third-year point guard was one of only two Division III players to dish out over 200 total assists and finished second to Middlebury College's Jack Daly (237) with 212, an EC single-season program record.

On eight occasions, Porrett registered double-digit assists, highlighted by an Elmira and Empire 8 Conference record 19 in a thrilling 111-100 victory over St. Lawrence University on December 16 inside Speidel Gymnasium. He ended the year with an 18-assist performance against Houghton College on February 17, and he notched a dozen dimes in a triple-double outing against Nazareth College on January 23.

In addition to handing out assists, Porrett posted career highs by averaging 12.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season. As a result, the Empire 8 Conference crowned him an E8 All-Conference Honorable Mention. For his work in the classroom, Porrett also collected CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District Honors.
