Katie Marcella is the head women’s basketball coach at Hartwick College.
Where did you attend college? What was your major? Where you a student-athlete? I attended The College at Brockport where I majored in Physical Education with a minor in adaptive physical education. I was student-athlete on the women’s basketball team.
What made you chose to attend The College at Brockport? I choose to attend Brockport because of the success of the women’s basketball program and the strong reputation of the Physical Education program.
How long have you been working at Hartwick? Three years
What interested you and brought you to Hartwick? The location. I am originally from Albany, so the appeal of being close to family brought me back to New York State.
What is the best thing about the Hartwick Campus? The views, especially in the fall.
When you hear “Hartwick” what is the first word that comes to mind? Potential
Who has been the most influential person during your career? Why? My college basketball coach, Michele Carron, who was a tremendous person and her wealth of knowledge of the X’s and O’s on the court. My Dad because he pushed me into doing everything I wanted to do and supporting me in every way.
What do you do in your spare time? I love to play tennis and go hiking.
Top 3 things on your bucket list? 1.) Skydive 2.) See Justin Bieber in concert 3.) Play tennis on a clay court
What is something most people don’t know about you? I have had two foot surgeries.
