Rice Named All-ECAC Honorable Mention

Nicole Rice (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) of the Utica College softball team was named to the honorable mention
All-ECAC squad on Thursday.
Rice, who was the Empire 8 Conference Co-Player of the Year and a first team NFCA All-Region selection, led Utica with a .466 batting average, 30 runs scored, and 64 total bases throughout the season. She also had a conference-leading 54 hits. She has now finished either first or second on the team in batting in each of her three seasons as a Pioneer.
Rice has played in 112 games at Utica and has a lifetime .420 batting average. She has 155 career hits to go along with 73 runs scored and 69 RBIs. She also has 27 career doubles. Her 155 career hits rank sixth all-time at Utica.
Utica finished the season 20-18 overall, including going 14-4 in its final 18 games. The Pioneers advanced to the Empire 8 Championship game for the third time in program history and the first time since 2013. UC has also won at least 20 games in five of the last seven seasons. The 2018 season also featured a program-best 12 game winning streak.
