No. 18 Fisher Set to Host NCAAs
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Following a weekend that saw the St. John Fisher College Cardinals claim its seventh straight Empire 8 Championship, the National Collegiate Athletic Association has announced that St. John Fisher will serve as the host institution for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship this coming weekend.
Fisher, which is ranked 18th in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll after netting its seventh straight Empire 8 Championship on Sunday, received a first round bye and will await the winner of No. 12 Messiah (15-3) and No. 15 Welseyan (Conn.) (10-6). First round action begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Growney Stadium and will continue at 1 p.m. on Sunday with the winner advancing to the Sweet 16.
Fisher, which last hosted in 2016 and is making its ninth trip the NCAA Championship overall, is riding a 12-game winning streak and currently sits tied with the 2016 squad for the most wins (17) in team history.
