2018 Women's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team and MVP
The 2018 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team has been announced.
St. John Fisher – Claire Bollin (MVP), Mallory Eymer, Molly Tice, Logan Chase, Morgan Hayes
Stevens – Kyra Bednarski, Tara Ravoli, Cami Santor
Nazareth – Brianna Rizzari and Kellie Byrne
Utica – Kaitlynn Palmer and Stephanie Husnay
Claire Bollin helped the Cardinals secure their seventh consecutive Empire 8 title and an automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championships. She scored four goals and totaled 3 assists as Fisher downed Nazareth College and nationally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology over the weekend. She totaled eight ground balls, four caused turnovers and won 16 draw controls in the two-game stretch.
Eymer scored nine goals and tallied one assist over the course of the tournament. She had four goals against Nazareth and scored a season-high five goals in the championship against Stevens.
Tice anchored a defensive unit that allowed 12 goals in the tournament. She and the Cardinals held Nazareth scoreless in the first half of the semifinal and then held Stevens to its lowest offensive output of the season. Tice also scooped up five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
As a midfielder, Chase recorded five ground balls and three caused turnovers in the tournament to go along with six draw controls.
Hayes made stopped nine shots over the course of two games in the conference tournament for the Cardinals. She made five saves in the semifinal win over Nazareth. She came back with four saves in the championship game victory over Stevens.
Bednarski posted a strong performance for the Ducks in the semifinal with 10 points. She scored five times and added five more assists. She also added two goals in the championship game against Fisher.
Santor finished the tournament with four goals and five ground balls. She tallied a hat-trick against Utica in the semifinals and netted one goal in the final against Fisher.
Ravoli recorded two caused turnovers in the tournament to go along with six draw controls.
Bryne scored a pair of goals in the semifinal loss to Fisher.
Rizzari made 16 saves in net, her 10
th time this season hitting the double-digit saves mark.
Palmer finished with two goals, one caused turnover and two draw controls against Stevens.
Husnay led the Pioneers with four points on two goals and two assists in the semifinal game. She also scooped up two groundballs and won two draw controls.
