HOBOKEN, N.J. (June 13, 2018) – Rising senior attackman Max Bailey was named Division III East Region Offensive Player of the Year, the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) announced late Tuesday.
Bailey, named to the IMLCA's All-East Region First Team earlier in the week, led Stevens with 97 points in 20 contests. The high-scoring attackman set a pair of school records during the season and finished just three points shy of the program's single-season scoring record. The Millersville, Maryland product handed out a program-record 71 assists en route to earning Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year honors. Bailey finished fourth in the country in assists per game and 23rd in points per game, while notching 19 multi-point contests.
"Max was great this year and was excellent leading our offense," said head coach
Gene Peluso. "His vision and his leadership was key to our offensive production this season. He played with a focus and determination and took his game to the next level. TO be recognized by the coaches as the Offensive Player of the Year in such a strong region is impressive. We enjoyed coaching and watching Max this season and we look forward to his future."
As a team, Stevens found the back of the net 334 times in 2018, setting a new team record for goals in a single season. The previous mark of 312 was achieved in 2011.
