Kyra Bednarski Earns First-Team All-America for Women's Lax

HOBOKEN, N.J. (June 13, 2018) – Sophomore Kyra Bednarski of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team was named a First-Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Wednesday. She is just the second Duck to ever earn the First-Team distinction and one of only three sophomores among this year's honorees.

Achieving this highly selective award is such a honor for not only Kyra, but for her teammates and the entire program. Stevens is very fortunate to have a player of Kyra's caliber as a part of the team for two more years."
Bednarski was the Empire 8 Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Boardwalk Region selection this season. She led the Ducks to their first NCAA Tournament Appearance since 2011 and an undefeated Empire 8 regular season.
The Syracuse, New York native led the conference with 105 points this season, including a team-best 61 goals. In just eight Empire 8 games, she racked up 28 goals and 26 assists.
Bednarski filled up the stat sheet on the defensive side as well, with 24 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, three draw controls. She scored the game-winning goal in four games this year.
She was Empire 8 Rookie of the Year last season and was also First-Team All-Region in 2017.
Alyssa Pigott was a First-Team All-American for Stevens as a senior in 2010.
