Seven Empire 8 women's lacrosse teams earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad recognition. A combined 339 Division I, II, III and NAIA institutions garnered Academic Honor Squad accolades from the IWLCA for their outstanding success in the classroom in 2017-18. In order to qualify for this prestigious honor, a team must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Empire 8 teams that landed on this year's list included - Alfred University, Elmira College, Hartwick College, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher College, Stevens Institute of Technology and Utica College.

In addition to the Academic Honor Squad award, the IWLCA named 27 Empire 8 student-athletes to its Division III Academic Honor Roll.

The IWLCA honored 639 student-athletes from 189 different institutions on the 2018 IWLCA/Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student, and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.
