Saxons Extend Win Streak to Three Games

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer team defeated Medaille College on Wednesday evening by a score of 3-0. The Saxons (4-1, 0-0 Empire 8) extend their win streak to three games with the win.
AU was able to take an early lead when a shot from
Karah Landries (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) deflected off of a Maverick defender and was sent into the net for a 1-0 lead.
Abigail Austin (Hornell, NY/Hornell) cushioned the Saxon lead with a goal in the 30
th minute, assisted by
Emily Wright (Dallas, TX/Plano West). AU went into the half leading 2-0 on Medaille.
Alfred was less aggressive in the second half, cashing in on just one goal opportunity when
Caitlyn Lloyd (Hilton, NY/Hilton) converted off an Austin pass in front of the goal. The score put AU up 3-0 and sent them home with another home victory.
"First and foremost, we got the win which is the big thing. Offensively, we're getting our opportunities but we're just not finishing which we worked on a ton yesterday and we'll continue to work on going forward,"
Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "The positive things is that we are getting the opportunities. It's just the finishing right now which we will clean up here in the next week or so."
The Saxons head to Bradford, PA this weekend for a matchup with the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday at 12PM.
