BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The first career goal for junior Mia Strollo came at an opportune time Wednesday as the Golden Flyers blanked host Brockport in non-conference women's soccer action, 1-0.

Strollo delivered an unassisted goal in the 65th minute to break a scoreless tie and to lift Nazareth to its third win of the season against two losses. Brockport dropped to 2-3 overall.

Although Nazareth had the better part of the action with a 17-9 edge in first-half shots, the game was scoreless until the the 65th minute. Freshman Mallory Ott created an opportunity by breaking loose along the left wing. Her shot hit the left goal post and a Brockport defender's clearing pass ended up on the foot of Strollo, who is more renowned for her defense than for her scoring prowess. Strollo gathered the errant pass and buried a right-footed shot into the upper left corner for the game's lone goal.

Nazareth finished with a 28-17 edge in shots and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Hannah Miller, backed by strong defense in front of her, gained her second shutout the 2018 season and the 11th of her career.

Kimberly Lubanski made 17 saves for Brockport.

The game also was the 10th annual Golden Challenge for a Pink Cure, a fundraiser for breast cancer. The event has raised more than $15,000 for breast cancer research.

Nazareth is on the road again Saturday for a non-conference game at Ithaca at 12 p.m.
