HOUGHTON, NY – Four unanswered goals propelled the Houghton women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Panthers on Wednesday night at Burke Field.

The Highlanders found success early in the first half, putting three quick goals past the Panthers' goalkeeper in under 15 minutes of action. It was at the two in a half minute when Jessica Beattie found an isolated Kealy DeForest heading towards Panthers' territory. Pitt-Bradford goalkeeper tried to clear the ball, but DeForest managed to fire her shot past the goalkeeper to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead.

Houghton continued on the attack and refused to let up. DeForest sent another ball into the back of the next tallying her fourth goal of the season at the nine-minute, and then three minutes later Beattie rounds out the first half with a goal assisted by Sierra Neddo.

While the Highlanders offense slowed down in the second half, Beattie, with the help of Alex Steele, scores an insurance goal at the 57th minute to decide the game.

FROM THE COACH
"Our first two games went to OT, so it was good to win in regulation tonight.  To their credit, Pitt-Bradford never quit and continued to work hard throughout the match. I want our possession skills to sharpen up for the full 90 minutes, and we'll continue to work on that."
– Head coach David Lewis
