Volleyball Knocks Off King’s in Four to Start Hartwick Tournament

Recap: Hartwick hit .327 as a team with three players registering at least 10 kills in a 3-1 defeat of King's College Friday evening at Lambros Arena in the opening match of the Hartwick Tournament. After winning the first set, 25-22, the Hawks would fall in the second set to the Monarchs, 25-21. 'Wick grabbed a 2-1 edge winning the third set, 25-18, and the Hawks cruised in the fourth set to victory, 25-12. Celia Gagnon (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane) recorded a season-high 17 kills to pace the Hawks. She would hit .467 (17-3-30) in the match. Maria Sorriento (Troy, NY/Troy) chipped in a double-double of 14 kills and a team-high 14 digs. Myla Dobson (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) contributed 12 kills and hit .417 (12-2-24). Katie Boak (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Kiera Walsh (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) each had 13 digs for 'Wick. Walsh also notched eight kills. Andrea Debboli (Troy, NY/Averill Park) added 10 digs. Dell Potts (Niverville, NY/Ichabod Crane) had six blocks and five kills.
