BRADFORD, PA – The Alfred University women's soccer team defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in a Saturday afternoon matchup, 2-0 on the road.

The Saxons (5-1, 0-0 Empire 8) have now won four games in a row.

Both teams were slow out of the gate, with the game remaining 0-0 going into halftime. The Saxons were able to break through early in the second half with a goal from Amanda Guariglia (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) in the 54th minute. Guariglia then netted her second goal of the game off of a feed from Karah Landries (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) in the 73rd minute to secure the 2-0 victory. Makenzie Cashmer (Weedville, PA/Elk County Catholic) played all 90 minutes in goal and notched five saves in the Saxon shutout.

"The team did a great job competing for 90 minutes. We were struggling to find the back of the net but we continued to be relentless going to goal," Head Coach Craig Yanni said.

AU will be back at home for its first Empire 8 matchup with Houghton College next Thursday at 5PM.
