Lakers Claim Top Spot at Empire 8
BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – The Oswego State golf team will head into the Empire 8 Spring Championship in first place, after beating out St. John Fisher College in the fall Championship Sunday afternoon. Sean Paul Owen continued to lead the Lakers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Sean Paul Owen shot a 73 (+1), placing himself in the top spot, just three strokes over the second place St. John Fisher competitor.
- Erik Schleicher was able to rise three places in the standings, finishing eighth, adding one stroke to his second round (+8)
- Liverpool, N.Y. native Daniel Mort dropped three places to tie for 10th with an overall total of 153 (+9).
- Freshman Ryan Fecco along with Corey Marshall finished out the tournament in the top 15, with Fecco gaining 16 spots over his first day finish.
- This is the first time St. John Fisher has trailed after two rounds since the Empire 8 went to a four-round format in the 2006-07 season. The Cardinals have also won the last 15 out of 18 Empire Championships.
- The team that wins the Empire 8 Spring Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

The Lakers return to action at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Sept. 25, as they travel to Elmira for the 46th Annual Elmira College Fall Invitational.
