UC Men Come Up Big on Sunday to Earn the Utica Invite Title

NEW HARTFORD, NY – The Utica College men's golf team rallied with a final round score of 303 to earn a three-shot victory over SUNY Delhi at the Utica College Invitational on the grounds at The Yahnundasis Golf Club on Sunday.  The Pioneers shaved 12 stokes off their team score of 315 on Saturday to earn the victory. 

Utica's Patrick Coughlin posted 12 pars and three birdies on Sunday to card a final round 72 (+1) on his way to a victory in the individual competition. Coughlin had a two-day total of 146 after posting a 74 on Saturday. Coughlin topped Hamilton's Jason Healy by three strokes over the course of two rounds to win the tournament.

Freshman phenom Joe Miga shaved one stroke off his Saturday round and carded a four-over 75 to earn a fourth-place tie in the competition. Miga posted a two-round total of 151. He registered 13 pars and one birdie in his final round of the weekend.

Utica's Brandon Young and Mason Munger were both clutch on Sunday to help the Pioneers earn the team victory.  Young shaved six strokes off his Saturday round of 84 and came into the clubhouse on Sunday with a seven-over 78 to earn a 23rd place tie in the individual competition. Young was steady all day with 13 pars. Munger carded eight pars and three birdies, including two key birdies in his final three holes to help the Pioneers secure the team victory. Munger's 78 was an eight-stroke improvement from his Saturday round and he finished 25th overall.

Chris Netto rounded out the Pioneers top five with an 85 and he finished the weekend in a tie for 29th.  His card of 81 on Saturday ranked third on the team and proved to be vital in the final team scoring.

Utica's Ian Schaaf posted an 83 on Sunday and tied for 35th in the individual competition after a two-day total of 170. Max Hulbert broke 90 both days and finished in a tie for 41st place with a two-day total of 174 (89-85). Utica's Casey Rich also tied for 41st after weekend rounds of 84-90. Tyler Pietrowski posted an 86 on Sunday and Alec Roback finished the day with an 88.
