Houghton women's tennis won their first home court victory Wednesday, 7-2, against conference competitor Elmira College.

The Highlanders began the afternoon with a commanding doubles lead, seniors Tori Noller and Kaylee Jentsch clinching early with an 8-1 victory. Second and third doubles soon followed to see the Highlanders up 3-0 headed into singles play. Senior, Amanda Carl, was first off the court with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 victory; continuing her impressive winning streak this year. She was followed shortly thereafter by Senior Kaylee Jentsch, who with a 6-0, 6-0 win, clinched the match for the Highlanders.

"The girls played very well today. They came out strong in doubles, and played the most aggressive tennis across the board that I have seen from them. I am very proud as this shows that they are bringing the things we are working on in practice to their matches." Comments Coach Tonya McGraner.

The Highlanders will return to play tomorrow afternoon with an away trip to Rochester, N.Y. to face off against Roberts Wesleyan College
