Women's Tennis Sweeps Utica in Empire 8 Action
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team took down the Pioneers of Utica College in Empire 8 action, 9-0. With the win the Cardinals jumped to 6-1 overall and advanced to 3-1 in conference play. Utica fell to 0-8 and dropped 0-6 in Empire 8.
Fisher would not lose a single set in all doubles matches on the day with Kaili Saffran and Cassidy Bell taking first doubles, before Caroline Seaberg and Mikayla Santulli brought down their opponents in second doubles.
Grace Peter and Jacqueline Chouinard capped off third doubles with the 8-0 victory.
The Cardinals carried the momentum into singles play as Saffran and Bell swept right through first and second singles after not dropping a single set in the matches.
Seaberg followed that up with a 6-0, 6-1 score win over her opponent in third singles, before Santulli put on a show in fourth singles with scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
Amanda Thongsirimonghoun picked up the fifth singles win with scores of 6-0, and 6-1.
Zuzanna Pociecha rounded out the nightcap with the sixth singles victory after taking down her Pioneer opponent, 6-0 and 6-1.
The Cardinals step back onto the court at 12 p.m. on Saturday against the Saxons of Alfred University as Fisher looks to tack on another Empire 8 Conference win.
