ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer team came away with a convincing 5-0 victory over Hilbert College on Wednesday evening in a game where the entire active roster was able to get some playing time.

Head Coach Craig Yanni said that "one of the benefits of today's game was that everyone got to play so that's good experience for down the road." Yanni also mentioned that "two or three players got some rest tonight that have been a little banged up so that will be important heading into the weekend with a tough matchup with Keuka College."

The Saxons (2-1, 0-0 Empire 8) were led by goals from four different players. Olivia Cronmiller (Livonia, NY/Livonia) led AU with a goal and an assist. Amanda Gauriglia (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South), Abigail Austin (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and Karah Landries (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley Central) all added a goal each for the Saxons. Quinn Fowler (Chester, NY/Washigtonville) also assisted on one goal while Austin took a team-high five shots, three of which were on goal. AU as a team only allowed one shot on goal that was saved by first-year goalkeeper Makenzie Cashmer (Weedville, PA/Elk County Catholic).

The Saxons started slow with just one goal in the first half but came out strong scoring their remaining four goals of the contest in the first twenty minutes of the second half.
AU will next host Keuka College on Saturday night with kickoff slated for 7PM.
