ROCHESTER, NY – The newest building added to the Nazareth College landscape – the Golisano Training Center – is celebrating its grand opening at 11 a.m. Monday, October 21 with a full day of activities scheduled.
The official opening ceremony featuring Tom Golisano; the Golisano Foundation's Ann Costello; Special Olympics International Chairman Tim Shriver; Special Olympics CEO Mary Davis; Nazareth alum, former NBA coach, and current ESPN commentator Jeff Van Gundy; former NFL wide receiver and Special Olympics Global Ambassador Dale Moss; and more than 100 Special Olympics athletes who will officially open the Center with a torch ceremony and the Special Olympics cauldron. The ceremony will be followed by competitive unified basketball games (shortened to two 10-minute periods), tennis drills for Special Olympics and Nazareth athletes, and healthy athlete screenings — where Nazareth School of Health and Human Services students work with Special Olympics athletes. The healthy athlete screenings will include: Fitness & Movement | Physical Therapy Department, Sensory Room | Occupational Therapy Department, Dangerous Decibels | Communication Sciences & Disorders Department, and Healthy Eating Plate | Public Health Program/Nursing Department.

The facility features an indoor track space as well as a turf field for recreation, athletics, intramural and club sports teams. There is also a fitness center, dance/yoga space, locker rooms, athletic training room and the Café Nine specialty dining area. The facility will host several indoor track and field meets including the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional meet and will be the featured space for Special Olympics training and competitions.
