ROCHESTER, NY – Seven women’s and three men’s Empire 8 soccer programs were named United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award winners to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year.
A total of 989 college teams (345 men, 644 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 255 schools who had both their men’s and women’s programs among the recipients. Elmira College, Houghton College and The Sage Colleges garnered academic awards for both the men’s and women’s programs. Houghton had the highest team grade-point average among all E8 women’s programs (3.54) and men’s programs (3.34).
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches Services Program with a composite grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year.
