Alea Steigerwald Named Most Outstanding Player as 2019 Empire 8 Women’s Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team is Announced

The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2019 Women’s Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Sophomore outside hitter Alea Steigerwald, who was also named the 2019 Empire 8 Player of the Year, earned Empire 8 Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading the Cardinals to their first league title over the weekend. Steigerwald hit .324 with 32 kills, 33 digs and four service aces in the two wins of Elmira in the semifinal and Nazareth in the championship match. Steigerwald and the Cardinals won their first Empire 8 Championship in program history. She was one of three St. John Fisher student-athletes to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
