Utica women's Soccer to Face William Smith In Opening Round of 2019 NCAA Tournament

UTICA, NY - The Utica College women's soccer team will travel to William Smith College for the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament on Saturday at 11 a.m.  The winner of Saturday's game will face the winner of Mary Washington-SUNY Geneseo on Sunday at William Smith at 1 p.m.
 
The Pioneers are fresh off their first ever Empire 8 Conference Championship on Saturday after they defeated Hartwick College 1-0.  Senior Allison Wagner was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player as she did not allow a goal in either the semifinal or final. 
 
It has been a historic season for the Pioneers (12-5-1), who captured their first ever conference title and NCAA Tournament berth.  This is the most wins in a season since 2005.  Senior Mikayla Blumenstock broke the College's single-season points and goals scored records as she currently has 47 points and 22 goals this year.  Blumenstock is also second all-time in career points (74) and goals (34) in just two seaosns in the Orange and Blue.  Senior Allison Wagner broke the College's single-season (eight) and career (19) shutout records.

The Herons of William Smith are ranked second in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll and third in the D3soccer.com poll. William Smith earned its 13th straight Liberty League Tournament Championship, and has a 16-1-1 overall record. The Herons earned the Liberty League's automatic bid into the tournament with a 1-0 win over Vassar last Saturday. William Smith is making its 30th NCAA tournament appearance (56-21-10) and is seeking its third national championship (1988, 2013). William Smith enters the tournament on a 12-match winning streak and is 8-0-1 at home this season.
 
Ticket prices for each day are $6 for general admission, $3 for students with a college ID and senior citizens/military, and $2 for children 12 and under.
