Senior defensive specialist Megan Ryder of The Sage Colleges was named to the 2019 Academic All-District ® Women’s Volleyball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Ryder was a District 3 selections, which encompasses all of New York state.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Division III Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
Ryder, who twice during her career had 30 plus digs in a match, finished with 800 digs in her time as a Gator. She played in 57 sets with 263 kills, 62 aces, 43 total blocks and 350.5 career points having earned a pair of letters at Sage.
In 2019, she started 26 of 28 matches played and finished the year as the team's digs leader with 407, good enough for a 4.11 digs per set average. She added 162 kills with 29 aces, which led the team as well this fall. She racked up a .881 reception percentage in addition to tallying 207.5 points as a senior.
A native of Broadalbin, N.Y., Ryder is a psychology major at Sage with an impressive 3.90 grade point average.
Ryder is a member of the Sage Athletic Honor Society as she was inducted in 2019 as a junior. She is also a Sage Scholar-Athlete honoree and was selected three times to the Empire 8 Presidents' List.
