Utica's Mikayla Blumenstock Named United Soccer Coaches Division III Women’s National Player of the Week

Utica senior forward Mikalya Blumenstock was named the United Soccer Coaches Division III Women’s National Player of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for games played Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

Blumenstock tallied seven goals and an assist in leading the Pioneers to a pair of wins, as the Pioneers defeated MCLA 5-0, and topped Elmira 4-1. In a weeknight match against MCLA, Blumenstock scored four goals that not only gave the Pioneers the win but vaulted her into the record books. Her third goal was her 18th of the season, eclipsing the school single season record of 17 set in 1993. Her fourth goal broke the single season school record for points in a season. On Saturday against Elmira, she had three goals and an assist to help Utica qualify for the Empire 8 Tournament.
 
Blumenstock leads the Empire 8 and is third in Division III, averaging 1.47 goals per game this season. She has 22 goals and 46 points in 2019 and 34 goals and 73 points over the last two seasons. Utica is the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Empire 8 Championship Tournament and will travel to top-seed St. John Fisher College on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
