Senior Tony Silvanic of St. John Fisher College was named to the 2019 Academic All-America ® Football Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Silvanic earned his second straight Academic All-America honor.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.
Silvanic, who is one of just 16 student-athletes honored from across Division III to carry a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average, finished his senior season with 43 tackles despite having missed three games due to injury. The Chenango Forks, N.Y. native was named Second-Team Academic All-America this season and is one of 18 honorees to have earned more than one selection over their career. Silvanic also has one pass breakup and a fumble recovery to his credit.
Silvanic is the first CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection from the Empire 8 in 2019.
