Alfred University Standout Raeqwon Greer nominated for 2019 Cliff Harris Award

Cliff Harris Award honors the nation's best small-college defensive player

The Little Rock Touchdown Club, along with the Wright Lindsey Jennings law firm, tabbed talented Alfred University junior safety Raeqwon Greer (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) as a nominee for the Cliff Harris Award on Monday, Dec. 16. The Cliff Harris Award honors the nation's top small-college (NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA) defensive player.
 
The plaudits continue for Greer, who earned American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America and D3football.com All-East Region honors in the last month. The junior led the league with 60 solo tackles, adding one sack and a forced fumble. Nationally, Greer finished the season 12th with 6.4 solo tackles per game and 64th with 9.3 tackles per game. The Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year has earned D3football.com Team of the Week honors on two occasions (Oct. 8 and Nov. 12). Greer, a 2019 D3football.com First Team Preseason All-America selection, will enter his senior season with 208 total tackles, six interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
 
In its seventh year, the Cliff Harris Award is in honor of Cliff Harris, an Ouachita Baptist University standout who eventually became a five-time Super Bowl safety and six-time NFL Pro Bowler with the Dallas Cowboys. He starred A prestigious selection committee made up of former college and pro football greats will select the eventual winner on Dec. 23 and will be honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual awards banquet on Jan. 9, 2020. In addition to the Cliff Harris Award overall winner, the top vote getter from each division will also be announced.
